Shared note

Frederick Lovelock was trained as an electrician and travelled from Woy Woy around NSW in an old car, selling material to electricity stations as they were built in country towns. He was specially asked to be the one to turn on the first lights at Cootamundra.

He was very musical, sensitive and artistic. He worked on the interior decoration of the New State Theatre in the 1920s-30s when he was 28 years old. He also worked on the Theatre Royal.

Fred had travelled to Canada before he was married. He knew of the George Lovelock family in Nevada.

He started his air conditioning business in 1931 but lived only three years after that. In that time his business grew to F.T. refrigerator vans working in or travelling between capital cities. His wife Ellen carried on the business efficiently and increased the business until depots were established in all the states of Australia. When he died the business was sold but kept the original name.

Ellen's family farmed Binalong (Flynn's). Her great, great grand mother was a Murphy, also farmers. The railway came in the 1880s and cut through their farm house which they loved. Ellen loved English music, songs and poetry.
