Shared note

Ronald Charles Lovelock was born on 1 January 1931 at Junee to parents Charles Lionel Lovelock and Lillian Oliver.

Ron was the eldest of a family of six children. In 1943, at the age of twelve years, he moved with his family to Albury where he completed his schooling at Albury High.

Like most boys of his age Ron took on a job of delivering newspapers before and after school. This was his pocket money.

After leaving school he worked at Gouge Dry Cleaners as a Presser for many years and also went to night school at the Albury Technical College three nights a week to learn wool classing as his trade. He became a qualified wool classer after passing his final exam without any trouble and went to work at Dalgetip Wool Store in Albury until he decided he wanted to go to Queensland to work in the shearing sheds. There was plenty of work available for wool classers and the money was good.

At this time Ron was engaged to Sherley Irene Livingstone, whom he finally married in Brisbane on the 8th June, 1954. They made their home there. Ron worked at Grazcos Wool Store in Albion, Brisbane until 1978, when he went to Quilpie in Western Queensland, where he classed in the surrounding sheds.

Sherley joined Ron in Quilpie and they lived there from 1979-1987.

Ron won the trophy for the champion wool fleece at the Quilpie Wool & Flower Show for five consecutive years, a feat that has not been beaten since.

Ron suffered a severe brain haemorrhage on the 1st Nov, 1987 in Brisbane and passed away in the Kedron Nursing Home, Brisbane on 3rd March 1990 after a long period in a coma.

He is survived by his wife Sherley and a number of brothers and sisters. They had no children.
